Fly-in Story

The Park VNY, and the Van Nuys Propeller Association has something special planned for Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 15 -16. For their first annual Fly-In, The Park VNY will be transformed into an aviation meet, where a variety of airplane-type groups will converge. The roster is expected to include Dukes and T-6’s, Swifts and Yaks, and mainstream aircraft like Cirrus and Bonanzas.

Activities will actually get underway on Friday, Sept. 14, as pilots arrive with their aircraft in advance of the public program on Saturday.

The Saturday event will start with a pancake breakfast fundraiser hosted by the San Fernando Valley 99s. The day will feature renowned flight instructor and author Rod Machado as keynote speaker. There will also be a presentation by Barry Schiff; a variety of exhibitors; a classic car display featuring The Rodfathers; an aviation flea market; and “behind the scenes” VNY airport tours. There will also be special screenings of One Six Right and Living in the Age of Airplanes at 7:30pm.

There will be a barbecue and other food and desserts available for purchase from local food trucks. The Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 40 will offer Young Eagles airplane rides for kids 8-17 years old all day Saturday. On Sunday, a pancake breakfast fundraiser will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The public can attend by making free advanced reservations through EventBrite at https://vnypropflyin.eventbrite.com.
